Revealing the Next Adventure (And a Change in Strategy)

Published on 6 August 2025 at 07:00

If you are a part of my newsletter, a little secret arrived in your inbox last Friday. You are the first to know the official title for Book 2 of "A Newman Adventure," and thank you for keeping it under your hats for a few more days!

For everyone else, the countdown is on.

The public, official title reveal will be happening at the end of this week, on Friday, 8th August.

If you want to be the first to see it, you'll need to be following me on one of my social media accounts, as that's where the news will drop. You can find me on your platform of choice below:

Facebook, Instagram, X / Twitter, Bluesky, TikTok (sometimes), Pintrest.

Set a reminder for Friday! In the meantime, here’s an update on everything else that’s been going on.

🏞 What Else is on the Horizon?

Over the next few weeks, I'll be talking more about the new title and getting ready for a cover reveal. There is no release date for the book yet – as I covered in a recent "Braindump" post, I still have too many unanswered questions.

In other news, I will be sending an exclusive excerpt of Book 2 to my newsletter list, so if you are a subscriber, expect that in your inbox sometime this month. And eventually, I will be giving you all a free prequel to "An Irish Mystery" that will hopefully give you a bit of background to the characters.

🔢 A Look at the Numbers: Sales

On a positive note, I have sold books every month since release, which is still unbelievable to me that people want to read my story. Sales on Amazon have gone down this month, but I have sold all of my personal stock, so even though I have sold fewer books, I have actually made more money.

But it's not about the money for me; it's about getting the book into the hands of more readers. I am worried that my sales on Amazon will be even lower next month, to the point where I will, like some other indie authors, have a whole month with zero sales. As I write this, we are six days into the month, and not one person has bought my book on Amazon.

♟️A Change in Strategy: Leaving Kindle Unlimited

This brings me to a big decision: I am coming off Kindle Unlimited (KU). I think KU is a great idea and works fantastically for authors like Daniel Hurst, who has had over half a billion page reads. For me, with under 800 page reads so far, the benefits aren't outweighing the restrictions.

My 90-day exclusivity period finishes on August 17th. I have already unticked the auto-renew button, and as of the 17th, I will be looking at other options and trying to get my book onto other platforms. I think opting out will give me a broader audience to hit and hopefully help me find new readers.

If you have any suggestions on what other platforms I should have my book on, please tell me in the comments!

To finish, I have a question for all of you. How many of you that read this have read my book? If you haven't, is it on your TBR list? Let me know!
